In 1961 Rick started playing guitar with his Dad, Frank, and ventured into his first band "The Trimlads" when he was in the seventh grade. Once out of high school it was time for a change and the band moved over to "Hour Generation". After college Rick and the bass player, Ron Stillians, went into the service and on to the conflict in Vietnam. Ron didn't make it back. Needless to say the band died too. About a year later Rick joined a group called "Bits and Pieces". While working with this group Rick was able to learn the ins and outs of the music business as well a strengthen his voice.
After kicking around Bloomington, Indiana from 1971 to 1973, Rick was offered a job in a road band called "Entrance". This group played around most of the Midwest; Colorado, Utah, Nebraska, Texas, Iowa, and Tennessee. Tiring of the road Rick re-formed the group called "Bits and Pieces". This group carried on for about two years. The loud electric scene got old and Rick moved on and formed a three piece acoustic group with Patrick Ruiz and Omar Hutto called "Touch".
In 1981 Indiana Rick moved to Florida to be closer to his parents, Frank and Mary. Here he worked the next 10 years in construction. One day Rick was asking himself why he was working so hard and not doing what he really enjoyed so Rick started playing music and entertaining again. In the beginning Rick worked construction during the week and entertained on weekends. Not long after Rick was able to perform full time and leave the construction industry. In 1997 Rick was voted "Best Entertainer" on Fort Myers Beach, which is a best of the best award.
